Daniel Villegas

Daniel Villegas is a Colombian America born in Cali Colombia. He came to the states at 8 years old and starting writing poetry at the age of 15. He began learning percussion instruments in a church in Middletown, NY at age ten. Since then, he has learned how to play the conga, bongoes, djembe and drum set and has toured the United States several times with the Readnex Poetry Squad and several times in Europe, South America and New Zealand. He loves to dance, Latin dance, house dance and b-boy. He has been writing and rhyming poetry and Hip Hop for 20 years and has been teaching a creative writing workshop for 5-10 of those years.

Daniel Villegas hosts a monthly poetry workshop in collaboration with River Valley Guild.
